Community

Giving back to the community is important to Kentucky Downs. During the 2009 live race season, Kentucky Downs helped raise money for five local charities through its Southern Nights Benefit Bash. Kentucky Downs is also a major contributor to the AdvanceKentucky education program. An initiative of Kentucky Science & Technology Corporation, AdvanceKentucky supports Franklin Simpson High School/Simpson County Public Schools in its efforts to advance rigorous math, science and English course work.

Additionally, the year-round charity bingo operation hosted by Kentucky Downs, has a significant impact on these charities: Franklin Simpson Renaissance, Franklin Simpson Arts Council, Franklin Simpson High School Athletic Council, Franklin Simpson Literacy, and The African American Heritage Center.

Through live racing, bingo and special events throughout the year, Kentucky Downs strives to do all it can for as many local non-profit groups as possible. Besides the organizations listed previously, Kentucky Downs has also donated time and money to The Franklin Simpson Education Excellence Foundation, Franklin Simpson Middle School (advanced biology) Baseball team, FS girls softball, football team, the high school band and the FFA. Kentucky Downs donates to the Lions Club for the Lions Club pancake breakfast and they are members of the Franklin Simpson Rotary.
