INSTANT RACING IS COMING TO
KENTUCKY DOWNS!!!
The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission has granted a license to Kentucky Downs to introduce and operate Instant Racing — a pari-mutuel electronic system which allows players to wager on historic horse races.
With the Commission’s unanimous approval of its application for an Instant Racing license, Kentucky Downs will move forward with its plans to offer the unique pari-mutuel wagering system before the end of 2011.
“We are thrilled that the Commission has approved our application to offer Instant Racing at Kentucky Downs,” said Kentucky Downs president Corey Johnsen. “We believe that Instant Racing will generate millions of dollars each year that will augment both live racing purses at all race tracks in the Commonwealth as well as the state’s breeders awards programs.”
Johnsen said Kentucky Downs’ owners will invest more than $3 million to launch the Instant Racing project at the Franklin, Kentucky race track. Construction improvements inside Kentucky Downs’ colonial-style clubhouse are expected to begin immediately.
“The rollout of Instant Racing will create upwards of 85 new jobs at Kentucky Downs,” said Johnsen. “We are prepared to take the next steps in our development of Kentucky Downs as a premier entertainment destination that will have a positive impact on the city of Franklin, Simpson County and the surrounding region and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
