Kentucky Downs Joins Keeneland At Top Of National Ranking

For Immediate Release

Franklin, Kentucky - February 26, 2009 - Kentucky Downs has been rated as the second best race track in the United States and Canada, only behind Keeneland, by, members of the Horseplayers Association of North America (HANA). The story was reported by BloodHorse.com, a leading media source for the Thoroughbred industry.

HANA, a bettor's advocacy group of more than 10,000 members throughout North America, started the new rating system just this year. HANA members ranked 65 Thoroughbred racetracks in the US and Canada from the horse players perspective. Factors influencing the rating include track takeouts on wagers, size of race fields, wagering opportunities offered and facilities and staff.

"On behalf of the Kentucky Downs team, I am thrilled that after just our second year of ownership, we have been ranked second among North American racetracks by the fans who are the most experienced and knowledgeable about horse race wagering and racing facilities," said Corey Johnsen, president of Kentucky Downs. "We have worked hard to make our live racing product the best it can be, so it is gratifying to receive this recognition. It is also an honor to be included in the same rankings with such a great track as Keeneland," added Johnsen.

Kentucky Downs, the only-European-style turf race course in the United States, with its short six day live turf race season in a festival atmosphere, has struck a chord with the racing enthusiasts across North America.

Dates for this year's live racing season at Kentucky Downs will be September 19, 21, 22, 26, 28 and 29. The $500,000 Kentucky Cup Turf Festival will be on opening day, September 19, and the annual Daily Racing Form NTRA National Handicapping Championship tour will stop at Kentucky Downs on September 26.
